Explore How Our Facility Is Designed for Success

Most of us focus on teaching approaches when it comes to providing the best educational opportunities for children. However, the space where a child learns can also have an impact on how their brain functions and how they feel.

At our 17,000 square-foot facility, our team specifically designed Scottsdale Children’s Institute to provide a state-of-the-art educational setting. Here are a few ways we create a world that fosters a love of learning by positively activating all of their senses.

Clean, open designs

If you think about a classroom, a very clear vision likely comes to mind. That’s because the average American school is well over 50 years old, with secluded areas and cramped and confined spaces. Unfortunately, these outdated designs can create a stifling environment that increases cortisol levels — the hormone associated with stress — which can make learning more difficult.

Instead, Scottsdale Children’s Institute features comfortable, open classrooms with plenty of space for group as well as one-on-one instruction. In addition to our open classrooms, we also have a 1,000-square-foot multipurpose space to hold training sessions, school-related activities, parent support groups, and community events.

And, our full-time cleaning professional maintains our entire facility using only natural and organic ingredients.

Plenty of natural light

Having an open space to learn isn’t the only thing that can increase performance. Exposure to natural light can also play a key role, as it helps regulate the body’s natural cycle of sleep and arousal.

Studies show a direct relationship between natural light and educational achievement. In fact, the more natural light — or artificial light that mimics natural light — students have access to, the greater their performance, overall health, and school attendance.

At our facility, our spacious sunlit classrooms come with plenty of large windows and bright overhead lighting to help support these positive responses and keep children mentally alert all day long.

Engaging settings

Once you have an open space with plenty of light, you have to take steps to create an engaging space. We start with ergonomic seating and other furnishings as well as fresh and relevant visual displays, because the brain loves new things. Then, we add the latest scientific principles of teaching and learning.

These science-based models focus on all of the skills your child needs to succeed, including:

  • Social
  • Emotional
  • Academic
  • Adaptive
  • Play
  • Behavioral

Each classroom also features a private observation room with a large one-way mirror so you can watch your child’s progress. And we include the latest digital technology to track their progress, so we can make personalized changes to their educational strategy every step of the way.
