About Dr. Laura Darcy

Dr. Laura serves as the Clinical Director of Scottsdale Children’s Institute.  She comes to SCI with extensive experience working with children for 15+ years in clinical, educational, and recreational settings.  She received a bachelor’s degree in Human Development at Boston College, and completed her training as a teacher and behavior analyst as she acquired her master’s and doctoral degrees at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Dr. Laura is a passionate educator, having spent time as a teacher at the preschool and elementary level in both general and special education. She holds NJ state teaching certifications from birth to Grade 6, and also spent 3 years teaching full time at Nicholls State University where she trained undergraduate and graduate students who were aspiring teachers. She additionally spent time working as an educational consultant in New Orleans, supporting teachers and students with a variety of needs.

Dr. Laura’s primary areas of interest and expertise are language development, social skills, and inclusive education.  She aims to inspire a love of learning for all her students, and believes all teachers can support students in reaching their individual potentials through the use of applied behavior analysis and the application of a strategic science of teaching.
